The Saltpond Education Project is a small UK-based volunteer organisation, which is currently at the beginning of an ongoing venture to build and run a free primary school for the impoverished children of Saltpond, a fishing town in Ghana, West Africa.
Building has begun on our huge and BEAUTIFUL new site, and we hope to open for teaching in September 2009. There is still a huge amount of work to do on-site, but we aim to fulfil our wider aims for the school by September 2011, which include bathrooms, a fully stocked library, an I.T. area, office and playground.
We are still almost totally reliant on one-off fundraising events, so if you'd like to donate anything to one of our vintage sales, run your own event, help us with some advertising or make a contribution, then please do let us know!
We are in the process of registering as a charity , and once we've done so we can make use of brilliant resources on JustGiving, Amazon, Ebay etc. In the meantime, a standing order of as little as £1 a month will really help us to continue building work, so if you can spare anything at all, we will provide the fund details.
Most importantly, we'd love to hear from anybody interested in going out to Ghana to continue work on the school and get involved in some teaching. |
Check out the various options to the left for more detailed information about the history of the project, the area in which it is based, and how you can help.
Thanks for your interest, we look forward to hearing from you!
